  • Unfiltered Airbox Dimensions?

Does anyone have a dimensioned drawing or the willingness to measure an existing old-style airbox for dimensions?

Mailed an RFI one to him today. If there is interest in a drawing and Josh isn't doing one, I can when he sends it back. I think he just plans to copy mine.

No vanes in mine, but I would like to see pictures if anyone has them. Ernie Bryant had a nifty air filter he fit over his. Worked great!

            Re: Unfiltered Airbox Dimensions?

I fully plan to take measurements and distribute drawings here to the best of my ability. Knowledge is power and I'm a little sick of folks holding this stuff close to their chests to make themselves feel important. I'm no hero. I am happy with what I've accomplished in my life. The little things are what hold value for me and I would hope that others here would eventually come around to feel the same way. I don't have any history with Taylorcraft except for what I have borrowed by buying an airframe. To have a direct or filial connection with the production of these fine ships would seem to be enough to assure deity status in itself, but maybe it's not enough for everyone. Please stay tuned. I am almost done with 9 days away from home. Looking forward to getting home and seeing what the postman has delivered.

My hope is to produce drawings that can be traced onto sheet steel and cut out, bent and brazed to reproduce the airbox. It doesn't look that complicated. Now if we can only find a picture or description of the filter that was occasionally used....

                RFI, Ready for instal.
Also for Josh, you will be happy to see the original intake was aluminum. We can make them with hand tools. ;-)

                PS
Like your sentiment. Hiding this stuff helps NO ONE! Let's get the data out so we all can have better planes.

"There is no limit to what can be accomplished if you don't care who gets credit."

(Seen scrawled on a cave wall in the south of France, everyone seems to want credit for this quote. Kind of funny when you think about it.)
