I have one on my '38. See my album on pg 4,picture 2 in the owners & theirs airplanes gallery. I can get you close ups or a copy of the service letter from Lycoming. I believe it was a common auto air cleaner in the early '40s.

Good close-ups of the assembly would be great the next time you have a chance, especially when you service it next. I am probing around in the vintage GM car market for an NOS to start with.
MJB,PM your e-mail address & I'll get pics when I change oil next. No I don't know of making authentic wheel pants, but I bet someone could do well making them.

Do you know of anyone reproducing wheel pants?
Thanks a bunch in advance.
I THINK Ray-Jay used to make a very good fiber glass facsimile with the ridges. I have seen them advertised recently, but I have gone "senior"

There used to be a company that made very nice glass pants called Ultralight I think. Molds were pulled from Tom Bakers deluxe, but they have since gone out of business. You might try and find Rats Glass in MI if he is still open. He made lots of glass parts including original CHerokee cowling. His stuff is amazing. I have a Fairchild 24 in the shop that I thought all the fairings were metal until we started removing them.
