I there anyone who has experience with modifying Model A open cowl from A-40 A to A-65-8F continental? I found one STC to work on but it includes Gap seals and electrical systems etc, I don't need all that. All I want to do is install a A-65-8F and get the 1280 MGW.

A firend of mine not to far from me is doing that now with his "A". He borrowed my english wheel and made new bowls. Turned out pretty nice so I have been told. I saw the cowl he made for a A-40 and it turned out pretty nice.

So he is modifying his mod A cowling to accept an A-65-8f? Can you get a pic from him and ask him what stc he is using etc? I have an excellent example of the A Model with less than 1000 hours on it. I would also be interested in which motor mount he used, ie the taylorcraft 65 hp shown in aircraft spruce etc. I also have parts to trade if someone needs them.

      Thanks

Nope, he built a new cowl. Not sure on the STC, there is no direct bolt up mount. You will have to make one.
