Where do you get info on that STC?

Do you have to modify the C-85? or do you just drop in an O-200?

I seem to remember this discussion on this list before....

Aircraft Specialties sells the STC. You have to run a C-90/O-200 crank, rods, and pistons.

On the ECI thing, it is not that they don't stand behind their products, its continously having to deal with down time due to sub-standard quality control of their vendors and its takes away from me working on something else that pays more than their flat rate. Nothing bad about ECI, I do buy some of their other stuff, just not their cylinders.

So does the powerplant end up weighing more? Also, do you need a new propeller? and another thing......is it really 100hp or 90 at that point?


What a mess! I may start collecting, but hopefully it will be YEARS before I have to do anything!!

Not including the extra accessories for a -12, the basic engine weighs 10-15 pounds more than a -8. Depending on what propeller you have will depend on whether you need a different one or not. It is still listed as as a 85hp engine, but actually is putting out 90-95 hp. The C-90 is rated at 90 hp at 2450 rpm, where the 85 is rated at 2575 rpm. Basically it is a C-90 with a different cam turning 125 rpm's faster.
