  • Fuel tanks for Cole Conversion

I have a 1941 BL12-65 Cole Conversion with a 100 hp C-90 engine. I would like to figure out options for making a small increase in my fuel capacity beyond the nose tank and small header tank. I want to keep the weight down and I am wondering if there are any options for relatively simple installation of small wing tanks. Increasing the fuel capacity even 6 gallons would be adequate. Any ideas out there?

I built a removable aux tank for the clip T we have here. It has a single bucket seat in the middle, and the tank goes in to the left of the seat. It holds about 13 gallons that is moved to the main tank by an battery powered electric fuel pump. This airplane is registered experimental exhibition, so we had to get a 337 field approval for the installation. Tom

I too have a single seat, not exactly a "bucket" but the frame from a Lear jet seat. A removable aux tank would be perfect since I only need the extra fuel on limited occassions. I too have an experimental exhibition registration. Do you have 337 docs or drawings/specs on how you secured/installed the tank and the plumbing? I don't need 13 gallons so a smaller tank would easily fit. Bill

OR put the 6 gal wing tank in place. Our clip had 4 6 gal tanks in the wings ; they were connected in each wing giving me 12 gal on each side into the 2 gal header , no big nose tank. We ahd the 180 HP Lyc. version , it slurped fuel. The portable aux tank works good too!! a streamlined one under the fuselage is neat too!!
