  • Wing Tank Install

Wonder if I can get some opinions on a question. Since my clipwing is experimental, I'm going with a slightly taller spar (6" if I remember right). But I may have backed myself into a corner now with the fuel tanks. The distance from the tank flange to the tubes (for drag wires) is for a standard spar.
If I use the felt under the flange (this is original config right?), then the drag/anti drag wires are awfull close to the tubes. If I use a thinner piece of rubber, I have a better clearance, but am concerned about wear-an-tear of this method. I'm also thinking about using a thin bracket that will give the tank flange more area to sit on since the rear flange barely overlaps the rear spar. Any thoughts?

The original F-21's had full 6" front spars so you should be fine with a think piece of felt or rubber.

They sell molded rubber for fuel tank straps. You may want to try that!
