  • My struts are bigger than your struts

Are my struts bigger than your struts? My left strut weights 27.0 lbs. and the right is 22.0 lbs. Each leg has a round tube inserted and welded inside. Roughly the length of the struts are 88" on the front and 91" on the rear strut, eye to eye. How big are yours?

What do you think the best corrosion prevention treatment would be since the struts are not sealed on the bottom? Corrosion-X? I attached some pics of a borescope inspection up each tube. I want to fog them before I put them back on.

I know the struts were heavy on the clip wing I restored, but they were still 4 individual struts like a stock Taylorcraft instead of being welded together like yours. They were also loaded with a round tube inside, and roset welded.

I'd use some of Polyfiber's Tubeseal on them. That stuff crawls like nothing else I've ever seen!
