Converting My J3 to an L4

I am installing the L4 observer glass to my J3 during my current ground up restoration. Here is a picture of progress....well, it's further along now....but this is the only picture I have presently. I've always loved the look of that greenhouse on the L4....I just didn't want the same ol same old yellow cub with black lighting bolt..It is sandblasted and primed now...this was just as I had tack welded it together.

Really looking good. I have an old J3 as well. Flies good(not as good as a t-craft) but fun to fly on these hot summer eve's. It's going to need restored in the near future(4-5 years down the road +/-). I thought about tennessee red with black trim....I don't think I would want to go back with the same ol yellow cub either.

Despite my aversion for Cubs in comparison with the Tcraft equivalent, it looks like you're doing a good job there!

Rob...I have 4 Taylorcrafts....I agree, they are a superior plane.....My dad gave me this cub with the hope that I restore it....It has been in my family for 46 years....It is nicer now after some elbow grease
Now that I have honed my restoration skills. I can think about starting on my 1940 BL55 project.

Most spectacular flight ever - fall of 1976 in a Lycoming J3 converted to L4 windows - Fruehauf yellow with red lightning bolt. I had a panoramic view of the trees changing color all the way from Atlanta to Westminster.
