I had to make an off field landing due to engine failure on takeoff landing ina farm pasture. The only damage was a collapsed gear. When installing a new gear/shock cords I used the other gear as a reference and noted that the stop cable looped around the small tube near the bungee bracket/retainer and not looped into the bungee retainer with the shock cords. I inspected the old landing gear and found the small tube that had been sheared by the stop cable during my emergency landing. I visited the foundation web site yesterday and found Hanks sketch which shows the correct installation of the stop cabe...looping around the bungee bracket along with the bungee cords. I am in the process of installing new bungee cords and would appreciate any information as to the proper method of installtion/maintenance of the cables.
