My old one was probably cast on the bottom part, but I think the shaft if just steel. Mine broke too. I made a replacement using the original shaft and a rectangular steel rod. Looks OEM, IMO.
I have photo's of it, but made with film camera I think would have to take snaps with Digital cam to transfer to you email.
I keep most of my airplane stuff together so I probably still have the pencil drawings that I used to get the angle correct. It wasn't that tricky if you want the info to try it.
I also have one of the aluminum ones from (WAG?), but if you turn the shaft down it will look awfully fragile for cast aluminium to me. I didn't even try it. Still have the new part.
