I have a BC12D that is currently being restored in Brownsville. We are about 30 days out from having it back in the air.
I noted on the taylorcraft.org website the link for getting copies of registration and airworthiness certificates and sent off for the CD. What a great service! I now have 92 pages of registration information and 32 pages of airworthiness certificates going back to delivery of the plane to Henry F.A. Bock, a Taylorcraft salesman/franchise owner(?) in the Lincoln, Illinois area. I also found out who the next several owners were and have contacted their families. Looks like I will soon have photographs and stories about the early years of this plane. It is great to honor this plane and its' earlier owners.
Does anyone have any information about the Detroit Aircraft Company which, from what I can gather, owned Taylorcraft for a short time? I am looking for more information about the operation in Illnois in particular and information about franchise owners or what it took to become one.
Anyway, if you have not ordered the CD for your Tcraft you need to do it! What a great source of the history of these great planes.
Thanks!
Jay
