Here's a pic of the Stinson in 1989... Along with one of our Otters coming out of the "Bucket" , and our wheel Otter and a Tcraft parked on the ramp in Illiamna.

      Re: Alaskan Taylorcraft

I don't have any pictures of our fishing trip cause I packed so carefully I forgot my camera...I wish I would have had it cause the J-3 that came with us got stuck really bad in the slush...it was 46 degrees on Friday and it made the lakes pretty sloppy for Saturday. If he had landed where we were waiting for him he would have been fine...but he stopped 2 miles south to BS with some guys he knew...we landed where the snowmobiles had been traveling across the lake so it was better...not good...but better. The J-3 was burried though....he said it felt okay until he slowed down...the skis broke through the top layer and he bogged down in the slush. We packed a trail with the snowshoes and came back Sunday. we got 10 inches of snow overnight...so all the packing of slush was for not. the new snow made it possible for the plane to takeoff and we chalked up another adventure...ski flying is fun..but it can be a lot of work!

Sunshine and skis...that's when its fun...! Makes you forget the overflow!!!
Here is a picture of Jim Hartley committing aviation! (Notice the little braces on the landing gear...standard Alaskan feature) Also some prime ski landing spots. Dick

I use to have my Taylorcraft tied up at slop bucket lake. I flew it on days and evenings off from Iliamna Air Taxi. It was fun but I didn't have much money and was always worried about the plane during those long windy nights.

I know it's not beach's or river rock bars in alaska but 500' long hill tops in east kentucky can be pretty fun too, especially in a 145hp Cessna 170B(with a horton stol and all the other mods).
By the way, this one is also for sell.

Skyhigh, did you have your Tcraft for sale about 9 or 10 years ago? I stopped in Eburg and looked at one for a friend of mine I Bellingham, WA... seems that guy had worked in Illimna too... just wondered if it was you.
              Kevin, that's sure a nice looking 170!
