  • C.G. Taylor Documentary planning

A small circle of people have been in on this documentary for a few months, this is the formal starting point.
Several months ago, the Taylor family, The Foundation & the Owner's Club were contacted by G. Kent Brown, about his company doing a full documentary for Television on the life & times of C.G. Taylor pertaining to his great History with Aviation and the Taylorcraft in particular. Mr. Brown has been here in Alliance three times so far getting source material. He has started interviews.
I told him that we here at the Foundation would support his efforts completely. He will be responding on this thread along with others that wish to get involved with the project. He has joined the Foundation as member #505 on Dec 22, 2003.

We have to move quickly on interviews with C. G. 's family as the health of Bob & Mignon ( Robert Taylor, son of C.G. & his wife)are not really doing very well. I will have more from Doug ( son of Robert & Mignon) on that issue very soon! In the meantime any prayers would be appreciated. thanks Forrest

          C.G. Taylor & Taylorcraft Documentary

Greetings to all Taylorcrafters ! I am finally able to post replies after some "technical difficulty." We like to say that often in the film & entertainment business ! I would like to share my vision with you. I have been working with a colleague on developing a series of documentaries and screenplays related to the 100th anniversary of powered flight and aviation. I grew up on a farm in Henry County, IN (or Raintree County) about three miles from Wilbur Wright's birthplace.
I believe there are many untold great stories in aviation, and what I like to define as behind-the-scenes stories. C. G. Taylor & Taylorcraft is one such great story. And, I would like to extend my applause and thanks to Colonel Bob Taylor (retired), the entire Taylor family, Forrest Barber, Bob Ollerton, and Chet Peek for their assistance thus far. I hope and want to honestly capture C.G. Taylor & Taylorcraft on film. C.G. Taylor followed his dream, working tirelessly against adversity and those "curve balls" that life can often throw at you. A part of what I want to capture is the impact of C.G. Taylor & Taylorcraft on the world even as I write these words. In a time when we need a heroe, C.G. Taylor is high on my list. A part of this great story is the British connection and the WWII time period.
I'm looking for resources, talent, or anyone who would like to participate in some capacity. I'll be looking for original music for the documentary & screenplay. My vision for the screenplay is a made-for-tv movie series (4-6 hours). I don't believe I can tell the story in a screenplay in 60-90 minutes. I'm welcoming all inquiries, interest, and assistance... Wishing all Taylorcrafters and others Happy Flying and a clean windshield !...G. Kent Brown (Greg)... Raintree County Images... 765.977.3363

                C.G. Taylor Documentary

Hello Taylorcrafters ! Thanks for the quick responses and interest. Attention crispy critter and chatterbox ! I have a number of plans in the works. When the weather improves and we have warmer days, I'll be wanting to shoot footage including aerial footage of a variety of Taylorcraft. I'm looking for Cubs and hoping to locate some original "Trainers" with the WWII look. Other plans include re-enactments of the assembly of Taylorcraft, so I'll be heading to the factory in Texas. Plans include getting over the pond to get the British story. So, I hope to hear from the Brits. I understand there are many impressive Austers out there ! I hope to shoot some type of re-enactment footage at the old plant in Alliance. And, I plan to be at the Fly-In in Alliance and other Fly-In events. I want to capture footage/interview the old timers from Alliance who worked with C.G. Many tasks to do and details to address over the next few months. So, let me know what you like to do or what your expertise is... I can always use help. I will reply to all inquiries, though sometimes that takes me 24-48 hours. As we say in the film biz... "Rolling and Action"... G. Kent Brown...

                  for G. Kent Brown

Atta boy you seem to have the hang of it now! Was the double post by an aggressive Bassett hitting the key twice that happens to me once in a while. Today I got another contact in Rochester.
I doubt that the factory in Texas will have the same way of assembly ( 30 plus ships in one day!) .... for a while.

For the Tribe G. Kent will need funding too! lets think about some stuff ; any Grant writers out there....

                    C.G. Taylor

I have a Cessna 170 with camara ports in the belly if you need any aerial shots on the Alliance factory.I'm only about an hour and a half from Alliance(by air).I also plan to attend the May fly-in at the new T-craft fatory.I can get some shots of it too.I'm not a professional photographer but if you want to shoot the footage I'll be happy to donate my time and the plane.
I also have a T-craft project nearing completion and another that hasn't been started.I don't know how that would be of any help but I do have some experience working on T-crafts.
I would also be happy to help in the reinactment of the Alliance factory at work or anything else that I may be able to do.Give me some ideas of what ya need and I'll try to be as helpfil as I can.

                      Documentary

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be glad to help. There is a very active Auster group in England who would be glad to cooperate, I'm sure. Many of their activities are based around Leicester. They have a classy slick-cover magazine. I can put you in touch. Also Bob Wykes, the son of the founder is a friend who has retired in Wales, and could be interviewed etc. And you are welcome to any and all information in my book.

                          Grant Writers

Forrest... I don't have a bassett, but my brain and fingers don't always work together... "technical difficulty." And, another part of my life includes a graduate degree in psychology with a neuropsychology backgrond. Someone once asked me "Why would you jump out of an airplane with a parachute and a movie camera ?" A different view or "angle" I replied ! Self-analysis in order for me ! Anyway, I'm interested in your other contacts in Rochester. I want to get up there and shoot footage of the house C.G. lived in. And, yes, I need grant writers to help me find some bucks. So, where are the T-crafters with grant experience ?
Let's keep the C.G. Taylor & Taylorcraft legacy alive ! G. Kent Brown...
