                        Re: Foundation Newsletters

Back again in the heat of summer; I had this newsletter ready on the 26th of July. The web site took a dump and Bob got her back on the 29th. Hope all went well at Air Venture. Could not figure how to do an attachment here is copy of newsletter ............... bye Forrest

                        THE TAYLORCRAFTER
“A publication of the Taylorcraft Foundation by and for the members of the Taylorcraft Foundation.”

                        Volume 5, Number 2
                        July 2011
We at the Foundation have elected to do a newsletter three times per year or more depending upon the reception by the members. This publication will be sent electronically only.

This issue will repeat a few things from the first issues for new member’s clarification.

Remember how it works, join the Foundation and get a number, put it in the message header on all e-mails,

I am here Tues, Wed & Thurs afternoons 1:00 PM to 4:30PM EST to do e-mails and answer questions. 330.823.1168 330.495.5447

Used Parts are sold by Barber Aircraft, listed there too! www.barberaircraft.com
I do not usually respond to the private messages on the discussion forum e-mail me direct: [email protected]

With all the above in mind let’s move forward in the last half of 2011. I will again not make it to Air Venture, even with all the improvements to the grounds it just became too hard on the family for me to leave for the week. I hope I do not get talked about too much (.

We still have a lot of ships stopping by on the way to Air Venture.

I now realize that the majority of our membership does not make Sun-N-Fun or Air Venture. I have been hoping that our Regional Reps will have local fly-ins and set up stuff at Air Venture in the way of meeting times and dinners.
I follow the action closely with the gang from Barber Airport (2D1) that does go ; we have five there now ( Tues morning, 7-26) I also follow the Air Venture news each day , I just learned of the death of Greg Poe and folks in the Cub. Back here in Alliance I did another three funerals since the Big Fly-In. Those that follow on the Discussion forum have seen the pictures and heard the reports . WE had a great 40th Reunion, there are many stories to tell , met new folks sold some parts, had many discussions of proper repair and restoration. We are doing three L-2’s in the area. BC12D’s too!! I flew the Clip Wing for an aerobatic display.
We had the commemorative fly-bys around Alliance with lots of ships on Sat morning. Duke Iden gave his last Breakfast for the attendees at Don Panchos and had a tearful farewell with all the old employees, his family did a great job. .
On Thurs 7-7-11, we had the First ship Model A ser#25 ( built in Butler PA, flown into Alliance on 7-7-36) flown by Doug Taylor, Grand Son of C.G. along with myself in my F-19 , the last one out of the Feris factory here in 10-3-1979 . WE did formation flying around Alliance, the old factory and the Barber Airport, many pictures were taken. It was a great one for the last one.
40 years is enough for me.

Moving on to business, I know some have been disappointed; BUT if I do not get satisfaction that you have the ship in question, I cannot issue a data plate.
DATA PLATES: Forrest Barber can issue them with FAA Authorization: search on the forum for other information and sources

. E-mail me DIRECT.... [email protected]
NO you cannot have a blank ....
It is a "letter of authorization" as outlined in the regulations about "lost or missing data plates" It is issued by the local FSDO or authority in your country , simple matter, you may need a "conformance inspection" I ALWAYS ask you what happened to the original one...... it is the airplane , maybe it out there flying around somewhere.
I have outlined this procedure many times.... any PMI or IA or A&P should know what to do. I have tried to explain that I need it ALL in one package, copy of letter of authorization to the owner or me as his representative, NOT the factory,
A TC#, N number, ser#, date of manufacture, (if you don’t have that I can usually look it up), copy of certificate of registration, & method of payment. Send check or Visa or MC

Fee is $45.00. $10 for plate, $30. for doing it with original plates & stamps.
$5.00 S&H ( two day) IUf yours is laying here , e-mail me to see what is missing.
                        .
The Wag-Aero catalog has extensive lines of products and services for all of your aviation needs. Including a lot of Taylorcraft Parts
There are four easy ways to order. CALL 1-800-558-6868, FAX 262-763-7595, e-mail [email protected], visit www.wagaero.com for catalogue

I hope to have more after Air Venture on their resources along with many other sources. The other sources and Wag Aero have not sent me anything to include in the newsletter. The same with many other sources; the newsletter is open to all members who have items for sale. The discussion forum seems to be the main source of buy and sell. OUR web site went down on the 26th , back on the 29th and I did not get to post this for Air Venture…. OH WELL ; Bob & Ted got us going again.

                        Check out www.barberaircraft.com .

There you will learn of items here For Sale,

I imagine all have seen the site and
Trade-A-Plane. We have listed all or Part of the Barber Airport for Sale.

Patty & want to retire and enjoy flying about in this great country of ours.
It is all explained on the web site and the ads. . I WILL do a follow-up newsletter in August……

                        Farewell and God Bless;

                        Forrest
Forrest Barber, Patty, Laura & Daniel too!!
