Re: Taylorcraft 2000 LLC offer to Taylorcraft Foundation

    Any news Guys?

I intend to try to get my F22A transfered to the UK Permit system and the last time in early 2008 I was turned down because there was still a holder of the Type Certificates and in the eyes of the UK CAA no reason for a spares problem!
Are the Foundation or anyone else for that matter any closer to taking them on and producing spares across the board?
I don't mean to tread on anyone's toe's and I appreciate that there may be more going on than I know about, but some update would be helpful.
If the Foundation are unable to take them are they likely to be returned to the FAA or what is the likely sequence of events? What is the stuation with the factory, if I have tried emailing them a couple of times over spares but there has been no resonse?

There has been a marked lack of response so I can only presume that not much is happening?

It has been suggested to me by the CAA that I may wish to contact the holder of the type certificates for the F22A and to attempt to ascertain what his intentions for the TC's are, as this may have some bearing on whether the CAA agree to transfer my aircraft to a UK Permit system the same as all the other older T/Crafts in the UK. I would need some form of written response of course.

The CAA would not agree to the transfer if there was any likelyhood of certified spares ever being produced for my aircraft, which is the only Tri gear model in Europe. At the present time it is very difficult to keep the aircraft flying legally due to the lack of available certified spares. Transfer to the UK Permit system would make the whole repair thing much easier and far less costly!

My problem is that the CAA transfered all the older T/Crafts on to the Permit system as a "job lot" along with a number of other older UK aircraft a number of years ago but have since changed the criteria for doing this leaving my aircraft stuck in the middle of nowhere!

Doe's anyone know of contact details for TC holder? I don't want to jump in and cause any problems if negotitions are continuing but I have to attempt to find something out from the TC holder in an attempt to try to satisfy the CAA?

Any advice apart from the sensible one of "sell it" would be greatfully received?

Re: Taylorcraft 2000 LLC offer to Taylorcraft Foundation

          Hi All,

Well you got this hot hot off the Press from West Wales in the UK!! obviously things were kept close to the chest for whatever reasons which may well be understandable. This information was passed to me by the UK CAA after consultation with the FAA as part of my quest to have my F22A placed on a permit as described in the earlier Posts.

I will give you what detail I have but I would suggest ONE PERSON on the Forum acts as a liaison with the relavant parties as opposed to every man and his dog ringing them and causing alienation before we start. I will try and attach the exact email at some stage if my computer skills allow but this is the Gist of it:

The information to the UK CAA was received from Mr Al Boutin Programme manager of The Aeroplane Certification Office ASW-150 Phone (817)222-5157
Fax (817) 222-5157. The Taylorcraft 2000 Company was sold on the 8th October 2009 including the TC'S and the Taylorcraft Name to a person living in the Brownsville Region of the USA namely Mr Lewis F Aguirre in business as SRA Co ( Tel 956-542-6554 ) The new owners apparently intend to pursue PMA for replacement parts & eventually produce new aircraft. He goes on to say that the ATCO's ? have not made contact yet and we are to call the Structures Engineer Mr Andy McAnaul residing at the San Antonio Office for details regarding Parts for AD's. I understand that Mr Aguirre is part of Consortium of buyers ( no other details known ) Mr Antonio Zillalobos the long time quality Systems person who has been looking after things at the factory has been appointed to take things forward at Brownsville and the tel number is (956)832-0445. Calls to the Florida no will not be answered.

Well Guys / Gals there you have it, all I ask is that you just appoint one person to follow things through and deal with things tactfully as I have not asked the CAA if I could release this information but took it on myself to do so as a matter of importance to you all seeing as it must be already subject of Public Record in the States.

Lets all hope that this new paragraph in the Taylorcraft History is a Positive one and give the new owners and all those associated with the new Company every help and assistance we can. If they don't know already I am sure they will quickly learn what a positive aly they can have in the Taylorcraft Foundation.

          Bob Preston.
