By : Forrest Barber, Executive Director Taylorcraft Foundation 9-24-03
I have just completed the mowing for the Military History event here this next week-end . We have the Grand Opening of our new EAA Chapter#82 at the same time. They will be serving Breakfast on Sat & Sun at 8AM. I hope to see some Taylorcrafts come in for this event. The N-S Runway is re graded and seeded, the new Dyna-Lifter building is going up as I type check her out at www.dynalifter.com . We will have a Caravan operating here this week-end. I have started the process again for the big runway improvement project, we have the approved FAA Master Plan done.
Bob Ollerton is coming up with a new list-service to replace Topica which has been giving problems to a few members ( actually their ISP’s seem to be the problem). The web site will not be effected and is being updated this month. www.taylorcraft.org . Some of you are are the internet, some not , if you want news of the factory check out www.taylorcraft.com . The listings at OSH will appear on the web site, many of you know about our award winners. Congratulations to all! The 1929 Waco CTO from here got Best Open Cockpit Biplane, the initial flight tests were done here at Alliance.
The Ser#25 Model A is here now and will be flying soon. I made at trip to the Butler County Historical Society meeting last week and talked on the building of the prototype old ser#25. I will go back as there is much information over there. Dick Huish is coming over this week-end to do some more work with the ST-100 ( TG-6) training glider. I thank everyone who has jumped in on this project. She will fly in 2004. This will be a short report , keep the list going, more good stuff coming on the web-site. Capt. Jon’s site just keeps getting better, he is visiting the factory this week, I hope to get there in about three weeks. Bye Forrest
