OOPs , if I pushed the right button the last post would have gone into the forum . I will try again , it was very cold here last night -8 degrees F . I have been nursing a cold, sinus, whatever for the past 3 days.
WE had a real nice visit by Jonathan Morgan & Jessica last week , they stayed overnite with "Peepers-Squeekers" their Quaker Parrot , Jonathan restored my faith that the tribe will continue on...... he is young (28) and rebuilding a BC12D .
I just had a visit from Doug Taylor ( grandson of C.G.) in his Stinson 108 , I plowed the runway for him this morning. I looked at a set of shock struts for a D model that I have to put cords on this next week. My B is in the shop for new windshield & exhaust system. The schedule of Forums for the Fly-In here is coming along nicely. SNF is set up and next we get Harry to give us the schedule of events for the Fly-In at La Grange in May. I DO hope to go there the third week of Feb.... bye for now more soon!!

      Weather

      Forrest,
Here in east Ky it has been in the high teens to low 20's for the last week.Today it warmed up to about 28-30 degrees and has been raining hard about all day.We have about 2-3 inches of solid crystal clear ice!! We just barely saved a Cessna 150,C-170,and my Smith Miniplane about an hour ago. They have been tied down under an old flat roof shed that is(correction)WAS the only original building that was here before the airport was ever built. It started leaning and we tried bracing it with no luck,it bought us just enough time to get the airplanes out of it and we skinned up the top of the rudder on the C-150 as it was the last one out.The roof had leaned over and dropped so far that with the rear tie down ring digging into the ground we still had to pry the rudder out from under the roof...Still flyable, didn't wrinkle the skin or anything, just scraped it pretty hard on the very top of the rudder. The roof hit the ground solid about 5 minutes after the last airplane was safe......way too close if you ask me

Well Forrest, Jonathan and Jessica came up to my house because it wasn't cold enough in Ohio. We went tearing through our parts in 4 degree weather - at 2 pm !!

Jonathan and I took the snowmobile out to run between the planes, parts and workshop. Needless to say, the windchill at 70 mph (no helmets of course - we wanted to get the full feel of the wind in our hair!!) sucks the heat right out of exposed skin. Sort of like standing at the tail of a Tcraft during a run-up! Jessica - being the wise woman that she is - chose to stay in the warmed van with the bird! Boys will be boys!

Needless to say, Jonathan and Jessica high-tailed it back to Savannah after that stop! I jumped on the bumper as they were leaving, but fell off at the end of my driveway. I wasn't really convinced I could hold on 'till Georgia anyway!
