Chuck... way to go. Seems like its earlier than you expected. Good job. Maybe you'll be able to make the Texas fly-in after all.

Well after getting some time on the new engine it was not turning up enough rpm's so the prop went to memphis prop and was ndt insp straightened and re pitched to 74/41 from 74/43 it now will turn 2500 at cruse and give 109mph ground speed on gps that day had some wind also. It now does pull much better on takeoff. Yesterday Shannon and CFI flew an hr and were landing on 4000 ft strip did two and back taxi then they landed and rolled out past mid field sat there then took off from there with 400 ft of pavement left and more then cleared a 50 ft obstacle with room to spare very happy with the plane

wow was looking threw the paper work for the plane and in the last two years we have did a lot of changes the 26658 to start was the disk brake change what a difference then the bush wheels after that we did the roller bearing pulleys witch made a grate difference in the control system then the AKbush 3200 tail wheel and spring kit improved the ground handling over a maule then came the engine a new C85-12 0 time then we added a new B&C starter, alternator, oddyssy battery, luscombe exhaust, spin on oil filter and new baffles from air forms in AK also new larger gascolator and all hoses were new also then we did a complete electrical system using all new breakers switches and wire and after that we sent the prop to the prop shop and had it overhauled and re pitched not much left to do and the stack of paper for all this is tall BUT IT IS ALL SIGNED OFF AND LEGAL and we are VERY HAPPY HOW IT TURNED OUT Oh forgot the vortex generators chuck

I have copies of the factory log that they used when they were finished building them at the end of the assembly line. Also have log book page for William A Crawford and he did not test fly your plane so Forrest Barbers father must have test flown your plane.Forrest has all that info as that is were i got mine from, your plane was finished on the 22nd day of July 1940 and its weight was 656lbs. The engine ser# 1762 mod# 0-145-B1 and it was the 2027 ship that Taylorcraft built.I don't know if you have any of this so i put it up, it would be nice to see just how much they changed since they were new.

Thanks for the info, I would like to find out everything I can on this airplane. My log books show the date of Manufacture as 7-18-40 and it still has eng ser no 1762. I bought the airplane damaged a little over a year ago. Wing is done except color and started installing it yesterday by having trouble with new rear strut from Wag Aero. Need to call Sensenich again on prop today. Mags are the biggest question remaining.

Well we went camping down by Huntsville Al. last week end with 15 other planes. A close friend has a small strip on the banks of the Tennessee river the runway is 1000 ft no problem for 26658. The red plane that is next to me is a brand new experimental with 5 hr on it it's a cross between a clipper, vagavon and a pa18 supper cub has io340 engine makeing 210 hp it weighs 810 and is 1320 gross its light sport! also it's side by side seating. The red supper cub in picture 4 is also one that the same person built and sold to build the new plane.
