After a few years in the making I was finally able to go and retrieve my model 19 and re-introduce it to sunlight for the first time in a long time. The last date I can estimate that it flew was the early 1980's. It is now in my shop down south and I have already begun tearing it apart to do a bare metal, ground up restoration (oh the benefits of being an A&P!). The plan is to leave it as original/ unmodified as possible. The TTAF is 1,067 hrs, of which only about 5 were added since the early 70's which was the last time it was restored and re-covered.
As with so many of these old birds, this one has its own complex and sometimes confusing history but that story is too long to dive into right now. There is rumor that the plane did spend some time here in FL many moons ago so in a way I guess she's back home now? Either way, it's with me now and hopefully it will be back airborne in just a couple years time.
