  • Status of Taylorcraft (Sept 2014)

First off, would someone be so kind as to re-open the Factory part of the forum so the latest can be discussed there?

Second, on Friday August 8th I inquired of the Taylorcraft factory on how they were doing. This was due to a post Forrest had alluded to that things were not going well.

As Forrest has never gotten back to the forum regarding this subject, (I think Facebook has taken over his life), I try to keep the tribe up as to what is going on. I received this reply a few minutes ago.

Good Morning! thanks very much for asking, the situation is that our PMA will be released in December, so we are taking parts order to produce and ship late December or Staring Jan 15..

    thanks and regards!

    Ricardo Cortina

I then asked if this was for US aircraft or everyone else not in the US. I will post any replies I receive from Taylorcraft.
    Cheers,
    Marty

      Re: Status of Taylorcraft

As some of you may recall I visited the Taylorcraft Factory in Brownsville back in January or February 2014 and sent Forrest a report on my visit and posted here too in the thread that seems to be gone now. I think Marty, that you replied to my posting and nothing has been posted since. Forrest never answered or commented either on here or privately (he has my email address).
My main point is that the folks at Brownsville treated me very nice and assured me that their PMA was forthcoming in the next week or two. I guess it did not happen.
I would be very hesitant to place an order in advance while they say they are going to get their PMA in December. Perhaps an inquiry into the San Antonio FSDO would give some assurance about the coming PMA.
I am in Indiana now, but will be back in deep south TEXAS in early November. My place and airport, XS56, is 40 highway miles north of Brownsville.
Maybe I will pay them a visit in early December to see how they are coming.

They aren't much to chat. What you see is what I got.

Mike, you are so funny. They probably meant next December.

I will send an e-mail and see if I get anything back from them.
                Cheers,

                        Re: Status of Taylorcraft

I am back in Raymondville, TX, 40 north of Brownsville. I have not made it to Brownsville yet, but hope to in the next few weeks and stop by where the Taylorcraft "factory" was located when I was there last February (2014) to see if I can find out if anything is happening.
I will post to the group what, if anything, I find out.

                            Hey Larry, Merry Christmas.

I think Taylorcraft is encountering PMA problems with the Feds. Taylorcraft has not responded back to me after several inquiries.
                            Cheers,

There is a reporter, Larry A, writing a tcraft article for aviation consumer. He's looking for info about the factory. Perhaps Marty or LarryW might contact Larry A with the correct status of Taylorcraft.
