Am reading a book called "Spitfire, a test pilots story". written by Mr. Jeffery Quill. Mr. quill test flew for supermarine before and during WW2. He also flew combat for a while. Before all this transpired, he flew as a beginner in the RAF including weather flights in a biplane with standard 1933 instruments!( Lots of IFR with very few instruments.) Very interesting story of how the Spitfire was constantly improved from 1938 0n and also how the Merlin and Griffon engines evolved! This guy was something else! JC
