  • Our government at work

Found this in ATA BRIEF Newsletter.

TSA spends $44.8M on scanners that show generic images.

The Transportation Security Administration recently spent $44.8 million on 300 body scanners that display generic forms instead of detailed images of travelers' bodies.

The TSA now owns 800 scanners. It is upgrading software in its older scanners so those scanners will also display generic images. Bloomberg (9/7), The Hill/Transportation blog (9/7)

Makes me wonder how much was wasted (er spent) on the original scanners?????

It seems to be Just another example of government Bureaucracy run rampant.

And, then everyone wonders why the country is in debt!!!

    Re: Our government at work

Have I said this before on the forum? The last 10% on any project cost too much. Perfect security has infinite cost. I suspect and have seen statistics that show things that are much more likely to harm you than a terrorist attack.
    Airline Crashes
    Lightning strike
    Auto Accident
    Pedestrian Accident
    Motorcycles
    Bicycles
Falling down in the bathtub or shower.
    Home swimming pools (mostly kids)
The list goes on and on.
Heck, I'm a lot more worried about a drunk, crazy or incompetent pilot, or one who has taken some kind of medicine.

I just saw the head of security in the US, on TV, trying to justify the pat down of a 6 year old girl, and a old lady in a wheelchair having to take off her diaper.

What can one say about that kind of insanity?
