Back in the barn.....

I knew that there were a few guys on the list that were interested in tractors, so thought I would post a couple pix of my old John Deere R. I have owned (2) R's over the years and this one is a gem. It is in original condition and both engines run like a champ. I drove it 13 miles last night on a tour that was supposed to just be a hop around the block.

Heh heh....Whew, I guess I can keep you on my favorites list then. My wife's cub is sitting in the barn waiting for me to finish the front bolster replacement project. Don't ask. h

Yup. International built a few trucks too. My Dad's was kinda red.... The last Farmall I bought was made in Italy......hmmmm. h

Larry... no doubt! This is at my Dad's home-place about 2-hour drive from us. We have had a tough time keeping everything up since he got sick 5-years ago. My brother is closer than me, but he has a lot of other responsibilities too. And since Dad passed away this February, the runway hasn't been a top priority. There is a lot to keeping the airport up plus fences, equipment, cattle, Mom and her house chores, etc... We are making slow progress.... partly the reason why my airplane hasn't flown in a few years.

It's fired on wood, Howard. That engine is one of the last that Minneapolis Tractor Company made, somewhere in the later 20's, and it's still got the original flues in the boiler. I first got to steer it when I was about 10, when it was owned by my friend Austin Monk. It's alot of fun to work her, just a little bit!

hay tribe here is a photo of some tractors that i hauled for a friend to shows the back tractor is a 8n ford with a 6 cylinder flat head ford pickup engine the second is 8n with lincoln v12 engine third is 8n with v8 ford 100hp flat head and the forth is 8n with 60 hp flat head v8 the man that did them is a professional

That wood fired monster is "SUMPIN!" When I was a kid the Farmall "M" was big news. Also the JD you showed. Neighbor also had a Miniapolis(spelling) Moline with steel wheels which pulled a metal tank on oak skids to collect maple sap. Brought back memories! Thanks!
