  • Wright Bros. Award

Last night we, the EAA Chap 457 and Freeport pilots Assoc. hosted a dinner and awards ceremony for Mr. Burrill Coppernoll of Stockton, IL. Mr. William Law from the Great Lakes Region FAAST team presented Burrill the award for his 50 + years of safe/legal flying. Actually it is over 70 years, as he soloed in "39", he still owns and flies a Cessna 150, and is still a current CFI and A&P. Those of you from the mid-west may know him, he worked in the IL. Dept. of Transportation, Aviation Div. for 30 years, helping establish the EMS helicopter system in Illinois, one of two states having one at the time. He is also in the IL. Aviation Hall of Fame.

PS: In my case there is no hope at all! Hasn't been for; maybe 30 years!
