  • Heart surgery

Just to let the tribe know I had open heart surgery last Monday night. It appears that I had a blood clot in my aorta that was flopping around and after the Dr's went in they found it covering about 40% of the aorta and about the same amount in a small chamber in the heart along with a small hole from one chamber to the other, apparently their 1st thoughts were HOLLY SHIT!
Well It took 11 1/2 hours and they had me brain dead for 29 minutes during the bypass but they got everything cleaned out and expect a full and complete recovery 4 to 5 weeks with no complications, and I should have more energy now that the blood clots are gone, apparently there was a problem with my blood being to rich (hemoglobin?) that cause it.
But I am out of the hospital now, another thing they can't explain, I'm healing up like superman, walked just under a mile today before discharged and here I though all this time a was a bit of a wimp.

Wow! I'm glad you're OK. Good luck with the (quick) recovery.

      Re: Heart surgery

Just did a follow up with the surgeon yesterday and he expects me to be a good taxpaying citizen for a long time with no restrictions or life slowdowns in my furure.
He still can't figure out how the blood clot didn't manage to break lose and cause a stroke before he got to it. he said that when he grabbed it with the forcips that the piece he went for broke off as he grabbed it.
I'm guessing that I won't be winning any lotteries I already won 1
