  • Taylorcraft Tribe in Apache Junction/Mesa/Phoenix area

I'm down in Apache Junction, AZ...snowbirding with my beloved...Are there any Tribe members in this area that can suggest something to feed my aviatin' interests? Friendly airports, weekend air activities, tire kicking, coffee swilling...etc.

I liked going to Pima Air Museum in Tucson, and there was another one in Phoenix area that had some German hardware. Can't remember the name right now. That was many years ago since I have been out there, though.
    Cheers,
    Marty

              I'm about 2.5 hrs south down I10 and Highway 83/82 from you at 85624. give me a call at 502 2 8 8 18 73
Suggest the Pima Air Musuem in Tucson, and of course the TitanII musuem in Green Valley, south of Tucson. Pima has a Taylorcraft Glider on display.

Dick If you are up for a little drive,Casa Grande airport is pretty lively on Sat. mornings. It has a wonderful core of nice people who love their planes and they seem to always be doing something fun. On the way home, stop @ Stellar park in Chandler, There is one of the nicest T-Crafts that I have ever seen, tied down in the shade hangars

Hi Marty, The old Champlain warbird museum used to be a great place to go to @ Falcon field but it is closed now. They do have a very active squadron of the Confederate Air Force @ Falcon Field.

I went to Champlain a long time ago, pretty decent. Too bad it is gone now. I didn't get to Falcon Field while out there, maybe next time. Thanks!
                      Cheers,

Arizona Taylorcraft owners: Last Sunday my wife and I along with some flying friends attended the breakfast at the Coolidge airport. Lots of airplanes and lots of "all you can eat" breakfast. Starts at 8:00, most planes start arriving about 9:00. Worth checking out this old military field that is now a very active G.A. base with lots of new hangars and friendly folks.

The event usually starts about 8:00 a.m. and ends around 12:00 p.m. JetA and 100LL fuel is available at the “self-serve” pump. We opened a Bakery and Country Store in PatagoniaAriz (85624), about an hour south east of Tucson. Nearby airport is Nogales. With some notice I can arrange a ride into town for you.

Its the best time of year to visit, and if all you have seen of Arizona is the center part then you are missing out on all the pretty stuff thats around the edges...
