  • Planning for Retirement

My wife and I are planning for retirement. Still a couple of years out but, I guess now is the time to start. We are thinking about retiring to an airpark in Texas. Here lies the fun. I know very little about airparks and living on an airpark. We are thinking about the greater Dallas area but that is just an idea. My wife likes to be near a city and I like the country. A compromise would be to live within driving distance to a city. I would like to be close enough to a city like Dallas, Houston, etc do some contract flying.

I thought I would see what ideas the tribe might have. We would consider other areas of the country as well. Thanks folks.

Look in middle Tennessee there are no air parks but land is cheep and lots of it build a hanger house and mow the grass and no rules or other people to put up with also zoning is almost non existing do what you want to last price on 60x80 building with floor track doors 50 ft wide 10 ft roll up door 2 36in walk doors and some windows $36000 Amish built land 1500 to 2000 an acre build an air port for less then small lot in air park then if you buy enough land then sell lots and get back investment I am working on doing this now have a place found 60 mi from Nashville other suburbs of nashville closer

side note Tennessee does not have a state income tax car tags are $24 property tax is a lot less $115000 house $420 a year electric natural gas are cheep is a good place to retire to i left Illinois and have not looked back And as far as winter last year 2in of snow all winter and it was gone by noon

Cvavon great idea. I had not thought of that. I do not know much about Tenn. Now would be a good time to start learning. You may have started me off in a new direction. Thank you.

Find someplace within 30 minutes or so to the east, southeast of Nashville and I would be the first customer for a reasonably priced lot at your new airport!!!!

Land is more expensive that way and that is metro nashville taxes are higher south west is less expensive and the land is flatter I can be in down town nashville in 1 hr from Hohenwald

                    Re: Planning for Retirement

I have a couple lots left in an airpark in western Arkansas. In the AR river valley. We are VERY rural, but 40 miles from Fort Smith. It's about 5 hours drive from the Dallas area, so you probably aren't interested, but If you are interested or not, you should give me a call and we can talk about the things that you should be aware of when buying on an airpark, like who owns the runway, association dues, insurance costs, maintenance, etc, etc,

give me a call sometime at (989) 387-4662
