  • Taylorcraft with Ward Aero generator broken prop

I published a picture in the September EAA Sport Pilot magazine of a broken prop on a Ward Aero generator mounted on a Taylorcraft. Dick Ward, the inventor and I would like to obtain more information. Dick Says that this is the first broken prop on one of his generators that he has ever seen. This is over a 50 year period.

Dick also states that one should never mount his generator on the strut. He figures that harmonics broke the prop as the strut is not rigid but will flex.

I don't know what king of generators they were but I have seen 2 with broke props. Both mounted on the wing struts. One was on a Cub and the other on a Champ. The one on the Champ shouldn't count because it had a few feathers tangled in it.
