  • Aircraft Spruce Seat Sling *Notice*

    Hello all,

As part of my interior update I replaced my seat sling with a new one from Aircraft Spruce. Though it was very well made, I had reservations about the thickness of the material compared to the old one I had removed.

Today I received a letter from Aircraft Spruce stating it had come to their attention that some were produced from materials too thin to properly support the occupant. Obviously I wasn't wrong in my assumption the material was too thin. They are replacing the slings, though I don't know what their procedure is yet as I am awaiting to hear back from them.

Just thought I would put this out there for those who may not get the notice.
    Cheers,
    Marty

At Farmville VA last year I took off and entered the aerobatic box for my first practice flight of the contest. During the first pull (about 4G) my seat totally let go, thank goodness I have a clipwing with a stick assembly under the seat to stop me from hitting the floor. It was one of these seats. I got the notice yesterday from ACS.
I had a local upholstery shop make a replacement seat complete with nylon webbing than runs in both directions. No more torn seats- even at +5G.

Flying is easy- to go up you pull back, to go down you pull back a little farther.

I have used an Airtex sling for many years, probably 45 years.

Had a few slings, never any problems.

      I also do not do 5-4 g's.

      Give Airtex a try.

        Dave,

Spruce is replacing the sling with a heavier one.
        Cheers,
