  • How do we reach everyone else?

I found this by going to the Topica site to see why I was not getting any messages. How do we make sure we reach all the guys from the other list?

What a nice site! I like this way more and think it is much more user friendly- Hats off to all those that made it happen!

We will have to be careful to balance between the two for awhile, and do our best to help our family members make the change.

If all goes well we will be only using the Forum around Jan 1 2004 so we need to spend December getting everyone moved over and comfortable with the new stuff. Its different, its better, but humans are not all that fond of change.

We will keep the Topica mail list around for a few more months after that in case someone has trouble converting over.

Hopefully the tribe members will go back to the web site and see that WE are now over here. I got off topica and could not get back on OR my ISP had it filtered out Sooooo topica is history for me. My dilema is handling this stuff at home & the office. I am doing okay so far. bye Forrest

        Threads

Could we have only one thread rather than multiple threads. This would be more like the email list where you could easely go through the messages and not miss any. With this multiple threads, you are likely to miss something useful.

We should all try to use the General Discussion topic for most everything, and use the specific topics as needed.

A discussion can be moved from one topic area to another; so if a great bit of detail about engines is in the general area, we can move it to the engine area.

            new site

would it be possible to duplicate all posts so that a thread could be set up containing everything said, and also keep the subject matter threads? you've probably thought of this, but others might be interested thoughts behind the answer.

keep your suggestions coming in and Bob & I will sort them out. The Daily discussion will be the answer for a lot of keeping in touch . I am going there now. We are working on the newsletter article for Bruce and ready for more snow here in Allaince. bye Forrest

A thread can be split in two two new threads. This might be done for instance if the discussion takes on two topics that have a life of their own; we start talking about loose rudders and that bings up where to find new pulleys and the conversation goes on enough that you have two seperate topics going.

A thread can also be moved; for instance some one starts a new thread under engines but it really is about airframes.

The modirator for each forum or the administrator has the power to split, move, or gasp! delete a thread.

Bob, while we're talking features - any chance of adding a spelling checker function? I moderate the tailwheel forum over at studentpilot.com They are also using vBulletin but have a spelling checker function for us folks whose fingers and brains don't always talk to each other.
