Re: Anyone going to Sun 'n Fun?

Yeah...there was only ONE Taylorcraft in sight (but it was a NICE one with a GREAT story!). Heck, we have 14 or more Taylorcrafts at our little local annual fly-in. It was kind of sad not to see more of them. That said, I hope Melinda posts the story of her nicely restored Taylorcraft. I know folks on the forum would enjoy reading it! Her plane got LOTS of attention in the vintage parking area, and deservedly so.

Sun-n-Fun was indeed fun, and the weather was perfect! It was nice to see some of my Lower 48 Taylorcraft friends again.

Re: Anyone going to Sun 'n Fun?

Yahoo! The Sun n Fun judging was finally posted today. Our little "T" won "Best Custom Classic 0-100 hp." We were beat out by an Aeronca 7-AC but that's fine as we know ours wasn't "quite" perfect. We are all thrilled, needless to say. I know my Dad is very proud looking down on us. It was great meeting so many T-craft folk and especially the Tribal Members making it an even more memorable event. Boy was she a dirty bird! Took two days to get all the dust off and the shine back on. OBTW...I think ours was the ONLY Taylorcraft there.

Melinda... Congratulations. Glad to have Taylorcrafts well represented at S&F even if only ONE. We would love for you to post some photos of your airplane.

Congratulations Melinda! It was great meeting you and Rusty. Please do post the word document about the history of your plane and the restoration. Good job and thanks for bringing your plane so we could all admire it!

Re: Anyone going to Sun 'n Fun?

Congratulations !! Good to have a Taylorcraft get some lime light. I enjoyed getting 94984 as a cover for Vintage Aircraft and feature story as well. I must say though... we had many Taylorcrafts there that year ...I did NOT get A trophy (and I have a good friend who has judged their for years too !) So well done !! Now bring her up to Camden in October. The FlyINN is FREE and you will probably see as many Vintage Aircraft there as Sun N Fun . I aint a member but its put on by Chapter 3 of the EAA Vintage Aircraft Association . Nice fly in. No dirty sand either !!!!

Re: Anyone going to Sun 'n Fun?

                Hi, All!
Thanks for all the well wishes. We had to leave SNF on Friday before the airshow as we wouldn't make it home before dark otherwise. We did have to sit out on the taxiway for almost half an hour while they repositioned the KC-135. That was interesting. We got to wondering, as the tug got closer and closer, just how much a T-craft would be worth to the USAF???
Probably our fault for not digging deeper, but we checked the website, our emails, etc for judging results the whole time. On this past Wednesday--it showed up on the SNF/EAA website. Got a plaque in the mail delivered that same day.

Very happy, had a great time, been there done that, now let's fly!!!

Will get some pics and that history page once I get time to figure it out.

                M.
