  • wing tank covers

    I am in geting ready to start cutting some metal for the wing tank covers. I had to pull the tanks to fix a leak....Does anybody have some tips and tricks for this process....did anybody leave too much material beyond the ribs, spar, etc and wish they hadn't. how much over lap from the back of the front spar etc ...what about finishing the tank filler hole? have any pics

    There is a copy on the website of the 337 I used for doing this to my plane. It has drawings with all the measurements. I put a five degree break all the way around all four sides. I rounded the corners off about a 3/4" radius, and then glued a rubber lip all the way around and inside the hole for the filler neck. I have pictures somewhere, but can't find them this moment. The hardest part was getting the fabric to wrap around the ribs. You need a LOT of clamps to keep it laying down well.
