  • Taylorcraft Fly in Iowa--Please respond

Plans are moving ahead for the Taylorcraft Fly In at Osceola Iowa (I75) this summer. We are setting the date of Sept 1-3 (Labor Day weekend). This date corresponds to the Antique Aircraft Association fly in in Blakesburg Iowa. This will conviently work out for those you who would like to attend both (AAA says that they will reserve parking for us).

We want to make this an event that you will really enjoy! We will do our best to extend to you a "good old Iowa" welcome. Listed below are some activities that we have discussed. Please respond and tell us what you would like to have at this event. Here is the list:

Owner assisted Taylorcraft annuals discounted for thise who fly in. (Our IA thinks that 3-4 could be done that weekend)
Bi annual flight review at a discount (2 instructors have volunteered)
Third class medicals (Local doctor/ pilot has offered this at his home/office)
Safety seminar (I am sure one of the Taylorcraft experts would volunteer)
Discounted fuel prices (still working with local airport commission--no promises yet)
Aviation movies shown in the evening ( either at the airport or at our local restored theatre)
    Taylorcraft airshow (we have connections)
Awards to fly ins ( best restore, longest flight, etc)
Casino entertainment ( we have a floating casino)
Aviation museums (2 about 45 Taylorcraft minutes away)
Barbeque (Iowa has some pretty darn good cooks)
Discounted motel prices ( will work on this when we have some idea of the number of rooms needed)
Camping "under the wing" (we have plenty of room)
"Peel out" breakfast on Monday morning (community supported)

We need your help! Which of these activities sound good to you? Are there others that we have missed?

Please help--Let us know what you think1

My wife and I would like to attend so I am keeping in mind something for her to enjoy.

Movies, Airshow, possibly casino though we aren't big gamblers. Barbeque sounds good, too.

Discounted fuel always sounds good as well as the motel. We don't camp. Safety seminar are never a bad thing, either. Apparently I am not aware of what a peel out breakfast is, sorry. Thanks for the work toward this!
    Cheers,
    Marty

Sounds like a wonderful time. A safety seminar sounds great.

Safety First: we meet most every night after 5 at the local body shop for a safety meeting, but ours involves drinking vegetable juice like barely or potato! :-) L

Great idea , lets post to the Events section when you have final plans. That is another big week-end back here in Ohio . I have to stick around for it. This what we need more of around the Country. Texas is great too!! Patty & I are hoping to make Columbia this year. All depends upon Chesapeake Energy and the economy.....

              Yes,
We are moving along with the planning. The fly in will be Sunday Sept. 2 and Monday Sept 3. This will enable Taylorcraft people to attend the Antique Aircraft Association fly in at Blakesburg Ia as well as the Taylorcraft fly in at Osceola IA. As soon as the details get woirked out I will post with an update.

Mark your calendars. Expect a "good old Southern Iowa welcome"
