I measured 1.5" o.d. and .049" wall.
Wall was measured with ultrasonic and I did not calibrate before checking but did afterwards and it is correct.
If you make a jig I would love to rent it! I have been planning on making one for a repair I have to do.
Also I have only one pre-war aileron hinge, its the center one with belcrank.

Re: Landing gear tube thicknes
Guys- I'm setting up to make new landing gear, standard height and extended 5" (to fix the deck angle issue of tail first landings) and for 6.00x6 Clevelands with hydraulic brakes. No fuselage mods are required- the master cylinders are driven off the same cables that actuate the Shinns. Right now it is experimental only but I am thinking of getting a STC. Just wondering what the interest level may be. I have a few sets sold to the clipwing guys but would need to sell lots more to cover the cost of a STC. Cost for the new gear would be around $2200.00. I know that is expensive but that is where it makes it worth my time to persue.Eric Minnis

Re: Landing gear tube thicknes
OK- so you got field approval the axle adapters for hydraulic brakes. What did you do for the master cylinders? I am wanting to build new gear set up for 6.00x6 Clevelands or Groves with a master cylinder in the gear leg that are a direct bolt on deal via STC so no field approval would be required. The original heel brakes and cables would be retained so no mods would be needed for the fuselage. 337's are getting harder and harder to get in most states (even AK is getting harder). The STC should make it easy regardless of location plus they would be new. I do not want to even think about the STC unless there is a need for it.Eric Minnis

Re: Landing gear tube thicknes
To be truthful Eric, I'd rather have an avenue to be able to do the work and brake mods here myself, not having to shell out $$ for a new gear leg. Once you get that STC, the old style gear legs would be worth about scrap price, unless they are able to be modified?? Just throwing out thoughts here.
