That doesn't matter at all...honest mistake or not, this HAS to be rectified to make this aircraft airworthy. At this point, a log book entry is worth nothing. If the IA knows the cover job (he did it?) and it was an oversight, hopefully he will pony up and fix that....no harm. If not, you have an aircraft that isn't airworthy...plain and simple, no if's and's or but's....... At that point, your only hope is to find another IA that will stick their neck out far enough to sign it off, then you're legal.

There are quite a few owners that are not familiar with SB's, SL's, AD's , 337's , Field Apps, STC's etc.

And there are those that believe an entry MUST be made in the aircraft logbook.

This is true even though it is the Owner that is responsible for maintaining the aircraft records.

My suggestion is you have the seller send COPIES of this "Logbook Entry", COMPLETE AD Status Report, the last 3 Annuals

      & last MOH.

E-mail, fax or snail mail will work fine.

With the entry in hand some things may be clarified.

Some Repair Stations do not use Form 337 to document a Major Repair ( NOT Alt).

What often appears to be a "Bill" is actually a copy of the "Work Order".

The requirement is that there is an entry in the "Aircraft Records" ; not necessarily the "Logbook".

Owners are often unaware that the "W.O." should be inserted into "Aircraft Records".

Generally the WO is signed by the Chief Inspector & includes the Certifed Repair Station "CRS" number.

A & P & IA numbers are not included if the activity is performed by the Repair Station.

There are people that are a "Good Stick" but are not up to speed on the other responsibilities of a PIC/Owner.
