Second day here of very high winds. Not a storm. Temperature about 63 or so. Beautiful day otherwise. Wind right down the runway. Forty two knots.
Get a few guys together and walk the airplane out to the runway? Not likely, chuckle.

Been here for about 20 years, but never seen this before. Second time this month, about 38 knots or so, three weeks ago.

Gigantic high coming in, tight low moving out, no rain from the low. Really strange.

Saw about your winds in the news. We have been very windy here in central IL, too. Has made flying non-existant for me. Got to go out for about an hour in beautiful, smooth air and almost unlimited visibility yesterday.
    Cheers,
    Marty

Really strange afternoon. I went to the Navy Exchange at Lemoore NAS around 2PM. Once I got near Lemoore CA the way the car was rocking (heavy KIA Sedona) I knew there was some wind. Walking from the car to the Exchange I thought I was going to be blown away, everyone was holding onto their hats. Came out of the exchange about 45 minutes later and no wind. Darryl I can remember getting out of my car in Los Banos 15+ years ago having the door ripped out of my hand and then needing to hold on to keep from being blown away. Since then I thought that was normal wind for Los Banos. I think around 11 knots has been the maximum wind in Visalia despite forecast calling for 25. I guess that by the time it reaches our side of the valley its been slowed down.

We tend to get a cross wind here blowing in from the ocean (60* area) to here (100+* area) in summers from about 1 PM until maybe 1 AM. Up to about 20 knots, typically 15. I saw the videos on TV of the winds in southern Cal. (Arizona, Nevada,) and stuff was blowing around like a tornado. We lost a few trees here I guess, but nothing like further south.

Beautiful quiet day today, sunny, about 3-4 kts down the runway. My radio battery went south on me so I only got in one landing.
