  • Request for Help on Paint Colors

I've started working on a project, and considering the vast expertise available here in the forum, was hoping you guys might be able to help. I'm making a series of posters for one of the rooms in my house featuring all of the different paint schemes available in 1946 on the Tcart. I have been able to scrape together enough from various pictures I've found on the web and this forum to get a fairly good idea of how the paint schemes were laid out, as well as the names of the colors used. Unfortunately I have found no good way to figure out the actual hue or shade of each color. In a perfect world, I would get my hands on the hexadecimal color values for each (ie FFFFFF=White, 000000=Black, etc.), but I realize that will never happen! So I was hoping if any of you might be willing to look at what I have so far and try to "guide" me in to the right colors. Also, if you know of a color combination I've neglected to include, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,

Fantastic!!! Those look great. May I add metallic blue with silver wings? I project was covered in metallic blue.

I like the red or maroon and black one #10. Second choice would be the yellow and black one.

        Anthony,

Pretty cool layouts. However, I don't know if it is your program or whatever you are using but on some of the first darker colored posters it looks like there is some kind of faint layout on the fin and top of the fuselage. I believe it is supposed to replicate the sun shining off the plane, but looks confusing in the layout. I was questioning what it was as I looked at it. If you could remove that shadow that would make it more of an accurate side-view. Looks nice, just my opinion. I wish I could help you on the paint schemes and color, though from what I have read on the forum I don't think they were that accurate as to colors. It may have been more of what the factory had on-hand and could get at the time.

When was the diamond and stripe used, anyone?
        Cheers,
        Marty

Number 8 seems to be like mine which is the deluxe version. If I were to choose the paint I would do it off white with cubby green as the 2nd color or Hunter green with a thin gold stripe thrown in. My Champ was off White and Cubby green and it was sharp looking! Many compliments. This, of course is all personal preference. My airplane (Champ)was painted with Randolph buterate. Personally I think some of the old colors used back then were not too swift. IE: There was a brown used by Aeronca on the interior that was really AWFUL! Good Luck! JC

1st row bottom of list looks best to me but damned if I know what the colors are except black but I do like canary yellow, but you might want to check out some fire engine red, the reds in your post are too dark.
