They had an interview with her on TV on History Channel, or something like that, last week during all the 9-11 stories. Here is a link to the FAA with her registry info on her Taylorcraft: http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinqu...umbertxt=29714
        Cheers,

I believe she is the daughter of John Penny, military pilot and pilot of "Rare Bear" of Reno Fame so she was certainly brought up right. If she is the same "Penny", then she was also at Reno last year racing in the Jet Class!!!

          Must be quite the lady

I know Penny from Lee Airport in Annapolis.

I have talked to her several times comparing notes on Tcrafts. She seems like a "regular Joe" at the airport, and that is a compliment.

I used to practice ILS approaches into Andrews AFB before 9-11. They would almost always accomodate you unless they were busy. They would make you break off the approach at 500 ft AGL.

            Funny how times change.

In addition: I saw in Sundays paper that Betty Skelton had gone west. She was totally unbeliveable as a Pitts pilot and race car driver. My good buddy Dick flew as a RIO in Vietnam in the Navy. MANY missions! Retired as Commander. His Son Ken graduated from Univ Md. as Aero. Engineer, Joined U.S. Airforce and Flew U2's for quite a few years. A good buddy in his U2 Squadron was "Chuck" Espanosa. Chuck flew U2's alot too! including bad landing in Korea in BAD weather. Had to be pulled from the wreckage. Went on to fly them more. Then Chuck flew some for United Airlines, then a 737 for the prince of Dubi and currently attends medical school in Granada commuting from Florida to Granada in a 172! Kenney currently flys as Captain for major airline, retired as Lt.Col. "Chucks" real name is Cholene Espanosa. She is 5 ft tall so she fit nicely into the cramped U2. You can google her history. Quite a chick!( Ken flew my T-Craft last year and did WELL!) JC
