Have not kept up with the Osprey. Not much news available on: 1. current accidents. current fatalities. Cost of operation. I remember reading that the Marine Generals pushed for this aircraft until they got it. Then a couple crashed killing quite a few troops, Several pilots commenting that it was not ready for showtime by a long shot. It would seem that it presents a much bigger target as it lands than the conventional helicopter and would be highly vunerable to ground fire. It carrys more troopers, so consequently more would parish. I NEVER see it in combat TV photos or reports. Anyone up on this? (typically news is scarce if a project turns out to be a turkey.) JC

Remember seeing accident reports that called for change in operating procedures, think the last accident was caused by 2nd craft getting caught in rotorwash from 1st, and also there is a steep deadmans curve at low airspeed and alt.
