    Recently found a bc12d 1946 , it has 1400 hrs ttsn
    what should I expect as a TBO on that A-65

    1800hr tbo on the A65. Look in the engine logs to find out if the cylinders are chrome or steel, if they have been bored-out, if the crank is undercut, when the last top o.h. was done. That information should let you know the condition of the engine and roughly how much the o.h. may end up costing you. Also find out if 1400hrs is the total time or time since major.

        I would have a reputable A&P/IA do an exhaustive pre-buy, and even then I'm not sure I would buy an airplane with a 1400-hour engine unless it was heavily discounted. A major overhaul is very expensive. Feel free to email if you want specifics--I'm in the middle of one.
