  • Alaska Tcraft Fly-In Video Link

Tribe...YouTube muted the audio on the first Skwentna Fly-In video. So...here is a new, improved version with MUCH better music. Enjoy Benny Goodman and his orchestra as you watch these wonderful WW2 era planes fly!

4th Annual Alaska Taylorcraft Fly-In at Skwentna, Alaska.

Excellent, Excellent job putting together this video Jim. Also, an excellent job of organizing the Skwentna fly in. Had a great time. See you there again next year to see if we can hold onto our championship status. Larry and Susan

Wish I could have made it. How are you liking those 26s?

Ward...I'm really liking the 26" Airstreaks. They are nice and "marshmallow-ey"!

We missed having you and your bride with us in Skwentna. Hope you can make it next year!

Sorry I didn't make it all the way up to Skwentna for the flyin. I left N. Kenai and headed across the Inlet, climbing to cross at the Forelands. Heading up the west side of the Inlet, the cloud layer started coming down and I was bucking quartering headhinds that gave me a groundspeed of 59 mph at times. By the time I got to the outlet of Beluga Lake, the cloud level and foreward visibility was starting to stink. Started to turn around twice and then kept going...finally "the Voice" spoke for the 3rd time and I did a 180. I probably could have gone over toward Mt. Susitna and come in that way, but I didn't...Just glad everyone else had a good time...hopefully next year will see 20 of us up there. Thanks, Jim for the effort in pulling it all together.
I wanted to mention that going to Valdez this year was extra special in that I got to meet for the first time, Jim Brewer, Curt Holler, Bill Merchant (from Nome), Ben Koelsch (from Nome) and Lee Staheli (from Kiana). Bill, Ben and Lee are some of the "farthest North" Tribe Members. I had met Rod Hanson at the Alaska Trade Show. I've known Steve Long for quite a while. We had a good time visiting.
Curt made a good showing in the STOL
performance and Rod's plane was a real hit as a static display, winning a plaque denoting his award. I'll try to post a couple of pictures from the Valdez show.
The one pix shows Steve, Jim, Bill and Ben sitting with the appropriate gear on. The one pix shows Jim and Steve getting out of Valdez ahead of a bit of wx.
Anyhow, we had a good time...and it was worth the 900 mile drive. Got to see some beautiful country...and the "airmail" mailbox of some pilot with a sense of humor. Later, Dick
PS: I bought a set of the Alaska Airframes sealed struts...will see how they fit.

Thank all of you for bringing a wee bit of Alaska to Ohio..... I have been stuggling with rain here. I makes my day to see Taylorcrafts doing so well. I check the N numbers too; I have flown a few of them. We have the Sentimential journey and the WACO Fly-In close to us ; trying for one of them ....
