Ok guys I finally finished my wings and now I'm working on covering my ailerons and have a question. I have the STC for the PK screws and they worked great. I rebuild my ailerons and the ribs already have the holes for the screws, laying down the reinforcing tape looks good on the wing but for 1 screw in each rib what should I do as I think it will look stupid if I lay the tape down from leading edge to trailing edge. I have seen some folks put a extra piece of fabric down but wiil that work as the reinforcing tape is rather robust.

Ray, For only one screw, why not just use a diamond patch over it?

Check your Poly Fiber manual. I believe reinforcing tape is required and must extend 1 inch beyond the fastener. Therefore, one screw needs a 2 inch piece of tape.

Make it neat and use 2 inch dollar patches. Dick

Guys, don't confuse "reinforcing tape" with "finishing tape". He's asking about the reinforcing tape, and I agree with Ray336048, you'll need a 2" strip.(going from memory, but sounds about right) From there, the finishing tape can be either a "dollar" patch or wrapped. Personally, I prefer wrapped, but some like the looks of the dollar patches for finishing tape.
