Re: Got Furloughed - Think about A&P School
As Craig stated; there is a downside to ALL careers.
After finishing Med School doctors often have loans exceeding $500,000 that they may not be able to pay off in their lifetime.
Then they get the first job.
It may not pay minimum wage & you don't know what day you can go home!
Obviously, things do improve after the early start though.
Still no picnic.
The A & P is not on the same level as a degree in medicine.
However; what YOU do with the credentials is important.
Like ALL careers today RELOCATION may be necessary.
The A & P opens doors to many careers & should NOT be considered qualifications to only do oil changes.
There are Federal & State jobs that have career paths in addition to the typical FBO & Corporate routes.
ALL manufacturers that perform work for the Military will have oversight from the Department of Defense, ( DoD.)
The starting ticket for a Quality Assurance Representative is the A & P.
The Space Shuttle, F-22, F-35 projects all have behind the scenes A & P involvement.
General Electric & P & W have engine reps all over the world .
Like many companies ; FAA is always in need of good people as well.
Once you obtain ANY credential it is imcumbent on you to consider changes in your chosen field.
More civilian agencies will be operating UAV's.
The industry is already gearing up with technical training to maintain them.
Anyone considering a career in any field should do the research on current & emerging opportunities.
Some folks elect to go the; "Would you like fries with that?" route.
