Well sad to say we sold T-Rex. And the good news is my wife son and I are moving out west. I got a job working for Cub Crafters services rebuilding and restoring Super Cubs and doing mods and work to all of the Cub Crafters products. I am very excited to go to work for them and feel it is a great opportunity. I told the new owner of T-Rex the proper name for the plane and also about the forum so it may resurface. But as the person before me, I will have to give up the handle. So Yakima here we come and if there is any T-Craft guys in the area can I bum a ride for some old memories, Ill buy the gas. See you all later, with a new name.

I think any of us that get to own and know any of these old girls are lucky to be a part of their history. Mine is 65 years old and in better shape than my dad, with a little TLC she will last another 65. I am lucky to own her and be a part of her history, she is part of our family.

Good luck at CC!! That should be a fantastic job for you! Yakavegas isn't too bad, and close enough to alot of fun things to do, so you should have a blast! Stop through here anytime if you get over this way!!

Fred hasn't owned the plane for quite a few years.
So John is there anything I should know about Yakima? Or as you call it Yakavegas?

Lots of migrant workers there in the summer. It gets really hot... but you're in great wine country if that helps! It's a good spot and from what I've heard, CC is a good place to work. There's lots to do, not that far away! A guy with the nickname "Tadpole" from over on BCP just went to work for them as a customer rep...he seems like a really nice guy! It got the "yakavegas" nickname from my old boss when the aerial applicators had their convention there and he won big at the "bones" table one night.... was quite the fun.
You'll have to let me know when you get settled...I'll try to stop by for a "grand tour" when I come through there!

              Re: Moving West

One of the lesser reason's that I love mine as much as I do, is that I get to the "kid" of the two of us. No matter how old that I am, she will always be a decade older, the wise, patient muse, teaching me new tricks, causing me to refine my familiar ones. I told a friend of mine once that I would like to be buried in her, (we have a family plot in west Texas, so it would be legal), but that would deprive some other deserving pilot a chance to recieve her gentle teachings. AH Yes ; Fred Rex , I did not appreciate his story till after he left the Tribe; I will always hold a place of Honor in my Tepee for Fred.
He is still around for a quick picture and story check out the link. I understand he recently sold the hot dog stand ; HE was a great promotion for Pearl Hot Dogs in Mass. ; the town even tried to throw him into the can if he kept the business going : HELL! it was a great attraction for the town. check out fred's franks http://www.yelp.com/biz/freds-franks-wakefield

                  Re: Moving West

I have fond memories of Fred Rex. I was spending a weekend in Boston back when I was flying night cargo. I called Jon to see about going flying with him in his Taylorcraft. He invited Fred, and I ended up flying with him in T-Rex. We had a great day of it, and then went back to Jon's for a nice dinner. As we enjoyed the spread put in front of us by Jon's wife, Fred gave an awesome performance of reciting "The Burning of Dirty Dan McGrue" FROM MEMORY. Nice fellows, and nice airplanes!

Brad, when you get to Yakima send me an email at neat1s AT yahoo DOT com. I am about an hour away in a Taylorcraft. Also, each Labor Day and Memorial Day you might want to fly over to Packwood. Just follow the Tieton river west through White Pass. They have a big city wide flea market. There are food vendors and a lot of fun stuff. Lots of fun.
