  • Communication antenna placement

I want to move my com antenna to inside the fuselage behind the luggage sling. How have others placed their antennas and what has been your experience with reception?

    Re: Communication antenna placement

My com antenna is mounted on the wingrooth fairing, with lead coming in trough the wingroot. Works well as far as the antenna goes, be raely good when I get rid of the static, some radios are better when others. Loved my JRC handheld clear as bell but the Vertex is good but he nois redution( ANR circuit) in it is not as good.
Just din't trust the JRC to by another one over heated and shortend out at first in the power adapter when in the radio. My friend still has his worked good now for 7 years, mine lasted 5.

My antenna is behind the seat and has worked very well per other reports on transmition and reception I finished my rebuild in 2001 use a Icom hand held radio. Have shieled cups and cables on ignition. I like this set up. A good ground plane is a must, antenna is mounted on an alum pl and grounded to the airframe. GO FOR IT!

I have an Advanced Aircraft Antenna mounted in my Tcraft. Don't have a picture of how it's mounted but have one from another Tcraft which is attached. As I understood from the owner of this Tcraft, his results with this setup were acceptable. I have not had enough use of mine yet to judge.
