  • Imperial Fuel Valve

    Hey Tribe,

Does anyone have a source for an imperial fuel valve that would have come on a '45 BC12-D? Mine was leaking and in trying to remove it, I damaged it beyond repair (misformed the casting). It is a two port 1/4" Male/Female in-line with a pin braized to the handle. I can post a picture later, if needed.

I have tried all local sources and also the usual three mail order places. Wicks had the closest match in the cataloge, but when I called they said it was discontinued and out of stock. Bum Luck.

    Anyway, all help is appreciated.....

I thought all the old airplanes used tractor or automotive type fuel valves and fittings. If you can't find the original style why not update to what is currently available?

      Couple of reasons:

      1. Don't really want to re-plumb and possibly have to cut another hole in the firewall. From the bottom of the tank there is a 90 elbo leading to the valve which is then threaded directly into another 90 which passes through the firewall.

      2. The lengths and throws for the push/pull control. If the replacement isn't positioned and activated exacly the same, I'll have to change the control as well. Don't really want to re-make it.

      Bottom line.........LAZY

WE all know what ahppened to Imperial valve after the death of John Denver...... big suits. No longer building that valve, they
are out there ( originals) keep asking. The secret is the TAYORCRAFT handle that is indexed 90 degrees off normal
( duhhhh) we have a few of them here or use the old one....
