Has anyone had experience with the Univair U689 heat shroud? Anyone know of any other options than fabricating one? The Univair unit is pretty pricey but the fabrication for a "one of" is quite a job. The original is getting pretty threadbare and needs replacing. Help!

Re: Heat Shroud
I fabricated one for my BC12-D when the price of the Univair was only $800. I guess I'm a mega cheapskate. It is not all that difficult a task, it takes patience, that's all.
I have worked with a Univair heat shroud. The pieces screw together and are difficult to remove and install during annual inspection. This problem can be remedied by joining the shroud parts using large radiator clamps. You have to notch out the screw flanges in a couple places to do that, but it makes the annual Oh So Much easier.
All that said, I plan to put the Luscombe exhaust on my F-19. I think it will be cheaper in the long run.Best Regards,
