Remember the ailerons are supposed to be rigged with a little droop while sitting static. But lose enough that they trail inline with the trailing edge in flight. Do a search and you will find this to be Forrest's recommendation. Larry

With proper cable tension and rigging the ailerons should have 1/8th to a 1/4 inch droop at static. Then when you fly everything should line up nicely. If one or both come up too far or not enough then adjust as needed. Usually if your pins,bushings,cables,etc are tight and adjusted properly you will have just under a 1/4 inch of droop while setting parked. The ailerons will and do create lift in flight and streemline themselves.....because of this same effect, if you adjust them level on the ground then your ailerons will have some negitive droop in them(positve lift)which will cause them to trailing edge high(up) in flight.

I believe that mine are rigged so they are inline with trailing edge but rise up a bit in flight.

I rigged them that way in 1998 and asuume they remain the same. Have not not checked recently but other than the possible effects of pulley wear they should still be as rigged. Forrest put me onto it.

I picked up some airspeed by doing that.

I think that the theory goes something like this; aileron slight up means effective lower lift coefficient at span ends and that results in less drag which effects more speed to produce the needed lift.

I suppose you could reason to the same result if you thought of the aileron being up a bit resulting in a lower effective angle of attack.

In Canada we learn too reconize spinentry. Saved my bacon once!
You fellows down south of the 49 th, get with the program and ask for it!
I know you cant spin just any plane, but even a shorth wing Piper Cherokee 140 can spinn.
We loose some off our friends and fellow pilots becuase of lack training what should be mandatory.
We had Bonanca spinn in on approch to Buttonville in Toronto during day IFR traning 2 weeks ago, 3 soles omboard, instructor and 2 students lost.
Too slow in the turn and on your back and down you go!

I discovered some time ago that you can have droop down to even on the ground that will give you up above trailing edge in flight, or droop down below faired that will come up to even in flight.
Mine are presently even on the ground and high in flight. I have had mine both ways but am going change back to droop down and faired in flight as soon as can get to it.
Then again considering that everything one touches tends to screw up one trim or another in level flight, I may just leave it alone for a while. I'm a bit burned out on adjustments from tweaking the wash in/out for the last 3 or four days.
