Does anyone have knowledge about putting a 0-200 continental in a 1946 bc12d? I am thinking of this conversion for added performance for float operations. Thanks

I have seen a one time only STC specific to one S/N taylorcraft. There is no gross weight increase. I found the info on the FAA website.

    I hope this helps.

          0200 install

          For what it's worth:

You would be money ahead(not to mention the headaches when dealing with the FFA) to go ahead and do the Harar conversion.
Get the STC for the 0200 crank, pistons and rods From superior aero-install same in the newly machined 85 case(C85-12F) and you will have an 0200 with a gross weight increase to 1600 LBS for your bird. And, if you really want to bump it up, install a cam from the 90 hp cont and have your favoriate machinest turn .025 off of the case for the barrels and you will have about 125-130 hp with a whole lot more torque. Rember, horsepower sell engines but torque flys airplanes
          Best Regards

Yeah, plenty of torque, but there isn't enough paperwork in the known universe to get that combo off the ground...

              John,

Should have mentioned-the extra machine work on the case(-025)probably should not be mentioned anywhere!! The rest of it is standard stuff.
              Best Regards
