After spending a week trying to find hanger space for 822, we took the wings off, mounted the fuselage on a dolly, and moved the parts to a cradle near the maintenance hanger and covered it with a tarp. The engine was removed and will be brought to the engine guy for exam. The wrinkle in the wing disappeared when the strut was removed, and it appears I only need one strut (fore). My immediate priority is to find landing gears for the beast. Thursday night I began preparing for the wing removal; removing all nuts. The nuts associated with the jury struts were the worst, having been painted over for 50 years. Liberal use of WD-40. This morning I punched out or wiggled out all the bolts and replaced them with smaller diameter bolts, so when the mechanic came by to help, he gave a quick look-see to insure we weren’t going to rip off a static or gas line, and that the aileron cables were disconnected and off they went.
